About the area:
Scariff is a small town nestled in the rolling hills of East Clare. It is close to Lough Derg, which has amenities for sailing, fishing, swimming (if you’re brave enough for cold water!), water sports, visiting heritage sites and eagle watching, (in Mount Shannon). East Clare is renowned the world over for it’s traditional Irish Music tradition and there is an Annual Trad Music festival in the nearby village of Feakle in August that draws visitors and musicians both nationally and internationally. Scariff hosts the Scariff Harbour Festival over the August bank Holiday weekend annually, with river trips, fun days and live music included. There are also marked walking trails all around East Clare and the East Clare walking festival takes place in September each year. For golfers there is the East Clare Golf Village, which hosts a holiday village too.
From Scariff it is easy to access the picturesque towns of Killaloe/Ballina, with historical sites and a Sunday farmers market. Limerick, Ennis, Shannon and Galway are all within easy driving distance, as is a day out to the beautiful West Clare coast and the Burren.
