The 5th annual Young People’s Art Exhibition takes place in Scariff Library from 30th Oct until 22nd Nov. Over the years this exhibition has given a platform to many young people to display their creative talents and led on to other youth art events in the area. There is an open theme to the work submitted, and all mediums are welcome, in the past this has seen film, poetry, drawing, painting, textile, sculpture and street art included. Entry is open to anybody 21 years or younger, it’s free to submit work, and there will be an opening reception at the library on the 30th October between 6-8pm. Participants and the public all welcome to attend.
As a special lead up to this years exhibition, local film maker and youth worker, Emma Sams, will run Introduction to Animation workshops on Tuesday 28th October. 11.30 – 1pm for 10 – 12 year olds, and 2 – 3.30pm for 13 years +. These hands on workshops will see each group complete a short animation that will be included in the exhibition. Emma is an experienced facilitator who has worked with many young people in award winning films and this is a great opportunity for young people to try their hand at animation. The workshop has been kindly supported by Clare Arts Office. It is free to attend but due to demand places are limited so please book in advance.
