I have over 26 years experience in the arts. My experience of leaving Lebanon as a young child, during the civil war, has informed my work around identity, migration, people and place. Drawing on my observations of peoples lives for inspiration, my artwork comprises of both figurative and abstracted work, including portraits, which reflect my interest in the human form, and landscapes, where I explore the emotional attachment to both place and transience.
As a tutor I have over 15 years experience working within the educational sector for Limerick & Clare Education Training Board, as well as several years working as a private tutor and workshop facilitator, teaching a wide range of Art and Craft subjects. My aim is always to create a fun and encouraging environment for my students, where they can feel confident to engage with, and express, their creatively.
As a facilitator I have a real interest in working within community settings with people of all ages and abilities. I am passionate about breaking down barriers and making art accessible. This has included working with various parades and festivals, organising Youth Arts events and community exhibitions.[/box]
I hold a B.A. in Art and Design from G.M.I.T., an NYCI Certificate in Youth Arts from NUI Maynooth, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Fine Art from Cyprus College of Art.
My work has been exhibited in both group and solo shows, as well as undertaking private commissions.
